How much area will a BioSmart® Far Infrared Heater heat??

The BioSmart® Quartz Far Infrared Portable Heaters are an excellent source of supplemental heat for an area of up to 1,000 square feet. Even smaller spaces benefit from these therapeutic infrared heaters since the heaters have a thermostat that allows them to cycle on and off to maintain the desired temperature, so there is no discomfort from overheating, even in a smaller area.

Economically, how does the BioSmart® Far Infrared Heater compare to other heating systems??

The BioSmart® Therapeutic Quartz Far Infrared Portable Heater is the most economical way to heat an area.  BioSmart® Far Infrared Heaters use an average of 35% less energy than conventional electric furnace/baseboard systems. Even more impressive results were found during comparisons with fuel based heating systems.  Individual results, of course, depend on insulation values and local climate.

What makes the BioSmart® Far Infrared Heater healthier than other heaters??

The BioSmart® Far Infrared Heater does not use up oxygen or dry out the air, nor does it produce positive ions like other blower type heaters.  And the BioSmart® Far Infrared Heater does not destroy healthy negative ions — it actually produces them. Since the early 1950s scientists have suspected that ions play an important role in how the body functions and, consequently, in how we feel.  Research has shown that an abundance of negative ions in the air we breathe is highly beneficial.

Conversely, scientists have found that if the air is charged with too few negative ions and too many positive ions, we become anxious, fatigued and tense. Positive ion poisoning has, in fact, been linked to heart attacks, aggravated asthma, migraine headaches, insomnia, rheumatism, arthritis, hay fever, and most allergies.

What are the therapeutic benefits of the BioSmart® Far Infrared Heater??

Far infrared heat has many therapeutic effects on the body due to its penetrating ability deep into the tissues. Other forms of heat or light do not penetrate as far below the surface of the body.

As the far infrared heat penetrates the skin, the light energy is transformed into thermal energy. This deep tissue heat in turn produces many health benefits such as:

An additional and important component of the BioSmart® Far Infrared Heater is the interaction of the far infrared waves with the copper ionization panels in the heating chamber, generating beneficial negative ions which are released into the air.

Negative ions have a profoundly enhancing effect on overall health and well-being.  It is that supercharged invigorating feeling that you get when standing by a waterfall or after a rain.  It has mood enhancing properties due of it's effect on serotonin and dopamine regulation in the brain.  It helps to combat those winter time blues.

What makes the BioSmart® Far Infrared Heater different??

There are three major types of heat:

The first is radiant heat. Radiant heat can be generated utilizing combustion or the burning of a fossil fuel, i.e. natural gas, wood, oil, etc. It can also be generated using electrical current to heat a coil, as in a base-board heater, or to heat different liquids such as oil in a portable radiator. Radiant heat is a very long wave form that can actually be seen radiating off the earth's surface in a mirage, or off the top of a wall radiator. It is a very long wave pattern.

The second is solar radiation. Solar radiation is a very short wave pattern that includes all hose wavelengths in the light spectrum that are both harmful and beneficial. Solar radiation is responsible for you’re the burn you get by sitting to close to a fire or disc heater or by sitting out in the sun too long. Ultraviolet radiation falls into this solar radiation spectrum. Solar radiation has a very short wave pattern that cannot be detected by the human eye. Ultraviolet radiation, for example, is a type of solar radiation and the wave pattern varies from approximately 180 nanometers to 270 nanometers.

A third form of radiation is infrared radiation. It is the safest and most effective type of radiation to use for warming up the objects in a room, including the human body. The BioSmart® Far Infrared Heater uses safe infrared radiation to efficiently convert electrical power into therapeutic far infrared heat. Infrared heat is by far the most economical type of heat for zone or area heating. Infrared waves vary from 5 to 14 microns which is much longer than solar radiation but much shorter than radiant heat waves. Infrared radiation is the perfect wave form for the most efficient heating systems. Far infrared heat is also the most therapeutic type of heat, which is why it is used universally for all medical applications requiring heat applications, as well as the preferred heat type in most saunas. Far infrared Saunas produce the same far infrared wave that the BioSmart® Far Infrared Heater produces.

Why is the voltage listed as 110V and other times as 115V or 120V??

In the U.S.A. it is called 110 volts, but the actual voltage can range from 109 to 121 volts.  It was increased during the 1950's from 110 volts to 115-120 volts.  Factors that determine variances in voltage include: distance, type of wire used, temperature of the wires, corrosion on the connections between your outlet and even the time of day as the load on the grid varies.

How does the comfort of a BioSmart® Far Infrared Heater compare to other heating systems??

The BioSmart® Therapeutic Quartz Far Infrared Portable Heater is a state-of-the-art heating system that provides the most comfortable form of heat — thermal infrared.  Unlike traditional systems, which may leave a differential of up to 18 degrees from floor to ceiling, the BioSmart® Far Infrared Heater produces heat that does not concentrate near the ceiling. Far infrared heat is naturally evenly distributed from floor to ceiling throughout the room. The even heating and higher humidity permit lower heat settings with more comfort, less condensation on windows and less static electricity.

In actual studies, photos using infrared photography demonstrated that the heat was almost perfectly even from floor-to-ceiling and wall-to-wall.  The BioSmart® Infrared Heater's efficiency is based on the distribution of energized air, not on just fan movement. This heat is coined as "soft heat", due to how comfortable it is.

How does the BioSmart® Far Infrared Heater work??

The BioSmart® Therapeutic Quartz Far Infrared Portable Heater combines advanced engineering with the latest in far infrared commercial quartz tubes.

The revolutionary heat exchanger incorporates a copper-ionization panel for efficient ionization of the water molecules in the air. These water molecules act as a carrier for the infrared heat that is expelled into the room. Ionized water molecules distribute the heat more evenly in the room than do the air molecules, which is why you eliminate most cold air pockets in a room by using infrared heat. Infrared heat is a warmer, softer heat that penetrates the body more effectively than conventional sources of heat.

The heaters have trouble-free solid-state controls, and diagnostic analysis of any problem can be analyzed over the telephone with our technical support team through customer service.  This eliminates the hassle of having to ship your heater to a service center for repair. Is the BioSmart® Far Infrared Heater safe??

The BioSmart® Far Infrared Heater has no flame or fumes. It provides safe, clean far infrared heat. Extensive TUV testing has verified the safety of the BioSmart® BreatheEasy Far Infrared Heater. All of our heaters are equipped with an automatic safety shut-off in case of overheating in the heating chamber.

The cabinet stays cool to the touch and is completely safe around children and pets.

Since infrared heat does not burn at ignitible temperatures, it does not use up oxygen in the room so does not make your feel tired or sleepy.  There is no danger of anything catching on fire, even if it's touching the grill. 

How long has the BioSmart® Far Infrared Heater been around??

The BioSmart® Far Infrared Heater has been completely redesigned in 2010.  We're coming up to our 5th season and we've sold over a quarter of a million heaters.  BioSmart Technologies holds patents in several earth-friendly, green technology products.

Why doesn't infrared heat rise in the same way that conventional heat rises??

Heat from the BioSmart® Infrared Heater doesn't rise the same way as heat does from conventional heating systems because the far infrared wavelength emitted by the quartz infrared heating elements is shorter than conventional heat waves.

Now, combine this short wave with the ionizing copper heat exchanger and what you get is an infrared wave that spreads more quickly and penetrates more thoroughly giving you a more even heat distribution from floor to ceiling. Add to this the fact that far-infrared has a resonant frequency with water and the fact that water is heavier than air, the infrared heat waves quickly penetrate the water molecules in the air, which keep the heat evenly distributed and down where you and your family are. This also contributes to the room being able to retain that heat longer.

How does the initial cost and savings compare to other heaters??

The BioSmart® and CZ Infrared™ heaters deliver at least 25% more heat than any other infrared heater on the market today.

A typical 1500 watt space heater or an electric fireplace heater (like the Amish fireplace) can only heat an area up to 400 sq ft maximim.  As an energy-smart consumer, you should consider this: for the same amount of electricity, you could be heating up to 1,000 square feet with the BioSmart or CZ Infrared portable heaters.

BioSmart® and CZ Infrared™ heaters have an electronic thermostat that allows them to cycle on and off to keep the temperature constant; whereas most space heaters or electric fireplaces do not have thermostat regulation and run constantly, eating up electricity until you turn them off manually.

How much power does the BioSmart® Far Infrared Heater draw??

The BioSmart® Breathe Easy Infrared Heater models have an option of 2 power settings – 1500 watt or 750 watt.
The CZ Infrared™ Classic and Basic models use 1500 watt.

All of our portable infrared heaters plug into a standard, grounded 110 volt outlet.
